Template design and update of the branding for Lucia Marthas

The Lucia Marthas Institute for Perfoming Arts offers educational programs on dance, acting and singing thoughout The Netherlands. The institute was founded in 1983 by Lucia Marthas and is now one of the leading institutions of the country.

When we sat down with Lucia Marthas in 2018 to discuss the design of several items, we advised the institute to invest in building templates instead to ensure uniformity throughout the line and to create a cost efficient way for the communication department, to create simple items in house.

In 2018 we started to gather all the communication items of the organization. This varied from corporate brochures, flyers, posters, social media posts, Mailchimp newsletters and business cards to the evaluation forms in Word and Exel. We ‘cleaned’ up the identity that had become cluttered throughout the years, rearranged fonts and created easy-to-use templates for the designteam.

The next step for Studio Designtree.

Designtree started out in 2005, almost 15 years ago as a design studio specialized in creating printed media, such as magazines, brochures, leaflets etc. Today, Designtree is so much more than that. Besides magazines, which we still love to design, we’ve become a multidisciplinary design studio with a mission to encourage brands in finding their true voice. Working on both digital & printed projects for clients we help shape stories that need to be told.


This is why our website got an upgrade and the addition of ‘studio’ to the name. As Studio Designtree we’ve left out some of our old work, still keeping some of the magazine projects that we feel extremely proud of, but focussing more on the larger branding projects that we’ve worked on in the past years such as The Folks Magazine and Added Value.

Hooray, it's our birthday

The Folks Magazine turns two.

On June 21st The Folks Magazine turned two. The independent magazine, that was founded in 2017 and that focuses on sharing in-depth stories with the creative industry of Amsterdam, has grown into platform that offers interviews, videos and events.

New edition of AVROTROS Klassiek

Duo Serenissima takes the stage.

In the third edition of AVROTROS Klassiek presenteert!, the award winning Canadian soprano Elisabeth Hetherington and Dutch lutenist David Mackor take the stage. The duo is known as Serenissima, a name that was inspired by the musical outpouring of Venice, commonly referred to as La Serenissima, or the most serene.

How social media shapes our view of reality and affects our understanding of our true selves.

We live in a digital age that lets us make ourselves the heroes in our own stories. We can connect with others like never before and yearn to create and share content that inspires them. Social media has been around for 15 years and life without it now seems unimaginable. But social media also shapes our view of reality and affects our understanding of our true selves. So how do we stay true to who we are? And to what extent does our own content influence us?

Dorien wrote an article about it explaining why she launched The Folks Magazine and why she think it’s so important for people to have a place where they are encouraged to reveal their true selves instead of their best selves.
